SCONETIME CREATES MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS!
Sunshine Coast Foodie, Martin Duncan, got the spark for Sconetime from a Facebook video that tugged at his heartstrings. It showed a 96-year-old named Georgina attending a morning tea, highlighting how loneliness and disconnection affect so many. And that’s when Martin’s lightbulb moment hit – scones can bring people together!
For Martin, scones have always been more than just a tasty treat – they’re a way to connect people. Back when he ran dessert cafes in Brisbane, he’d host monthly catch-ups with Paddington and Rosalie traders. These days, it’s all about keeping the community spirit alive.
Sconetime made its grand entrance at Cooroy in 2018, and just like one of Martin’s perfect scones, this event has been rising ever since! Fast forward six years, and Sconetime hasn’t just grown in numbers – it’s spread to new spots too! You can now get your scone fix in Beerwah, Caloundra, Buderim, and Nambour. Spread the scone love!
But it’s those bunches of fabulous Sconetime volunteers who bring folks together, swapping stories, sharing laughs, and celebrating the history of our treasured old halls and the wonderful people who fill them.
Sconetime isn’t just about scones – it’s about creating real, meaningful community connections!
