ABOUT MARTIN
PASSIONATE PROMOTOR OF FOOD PRODUCERS & BUILDING COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH FOOD
Meet Martin Duncan, aka the ‘Sunshine Coast Foodie,’ a man on a mission to shine a spotlight on the region’s top-notch restaurants, cafes, producers, and local goodies. Former chef, restaurateur, and all-around foodie connector, Martin brings together the best of the food world – from agribusiness and plant nurseries to hospitality – like a delicious puzzle.
But wait, there’s more! Martin is also the mastermind behind Sconetime, a heartwarming event that gives older folks, their carers, and companions a chance to bond over tea and, of course, scones. It’s all about creating community one fluffy, jam-topped bite at a time.
Every year, you’ll find Martin smack dab in the middle of the Sunshine Coast’s most exciting food events—think Qld Garden Show, The Curated Plate Festival, Glasshouse Country Farm Trail, GourMay Festival in the Mary Valley, and the Cooloola Farm Trail.
He’s got a serious knack for hosting chef and producer events that show off the incredible flavours of the Sunshine Coast and Mary Valley. And let’s not forget his famous ‘Sconeversation’ sessions and long lunches out on the farm – where food, fun, and fabulous company are always on the menu.
Martin’s also a key player in the local business scene, keeping busy with the Food & Agribusiness Network (FAN), Hinterland Tourism, Slow Food Noosa, Tourism Noosa, Visit Sunshine Coast, and the Nursery Garden Industry Queensland.
But wait, there’s still more. Martin is Brand Ambassador for Bassett Barks, snapping pics and spotlighting Bassett clients across print and social media. And to finally top things off, Martin serves up tasty features in Salt Magazine and My Weekly Preview.
Basically, if it’s happening on the Sunshine Coast, Martin’s in the mix!
